The Old Man at the Crossing.
by Leonard Alfred George Strong, 1896-?
I weep the street and lift me hat
As persons come and persons go,
Me lady and me gentleman:
I lift me hat—but you don’t know!
I’ve money by against I’m dead:
A hearse and mourners there will be!
And every sort of walking man
Will stop and lift his hat to me!
